Crash Reconstruction
The deceleration efficiency of a braking system is very much affected by the measurement environment, that means the road conditions, the cleanliness of the road, the temperature of the tires and also the road surface, etc. and, of course, the general condition of the vehicle. In accident reconstruction, it is extremely important to investigate the decceleration capability of a vehicle.
The accurate and trustworthy investigation requires considering the real circumstances on the spot. Using the XL Meter™ Pro measurement device family, the acceleration capability of the vehicles incolved in a car accident can be investigated considering the weather and road conditions. So it is not possible to tell the deceleration capability of a vehicle generally, but only in the given environment.
This is especially significant e.g. when reconstructing an accident, where it is very much important what MFDD value is used to convert the braking distance measured on the spot into the initial speed. The MFDD value coming from catalogues or data sheets of a certain vehicle is only for information; the only correct solution is calculating the MFDD value by measurement. One of the great advantages of the technology invented by the Inventure Automotive is that the measurement results are real, not only approached. The technology is applicable for almost every vehicle types, including passenger cars, fork lifters, agricultural machines, commercial vehicles, motorcycle, or chain driven vehicles.
