The CAN communication protocol was developed in the eighties, for control purposes in the automotive industry. The protocol was registered in 1993 as ISO 11898 standard. Although originally it was developed for automotive purposes, nowadays it is applied already almost all fields of industry. It allows real-time measurement and data-recording even in the case of full bus-load. By the PC-software having user-friendly controls you get a compact and flexible CAN-network analyzer. The Inventure WeCAN™ product-family supports the connection to measurement applications, such as LabVIEW™ DIAdem™ and the MATLAB. So options are widening, and it is possible to create a complete virtual CAN-measuring system.
